Angels
Crossing-a haven for stressful times
by Dave Holt
Julie
Greer and Robin Wilma's friendship began while they were serving
on the Board of Directors at St. Rose Hospital in Hayward. Their
fund-raising projects helped to build a pediatric clinic, a
mobile immunization van, a cardiac cath lab, and a breast care
center. It was while planning these fund-raising events, doing
gift baskets, etc., that the idea of creating Angels Crossing
was born. For them it would be a store built on their talents,
and formed from their love of helping others-a "little
bit of heaven" in Dublin.
From volunteering they learned about the varied personal needs
of people in extreme situations. They carry those special items
that can communicate to a hurting friend, a loved one, or those
going through illnesses, divorce, or grief just how much they
are cared for. They've also recently added a line of recovery
items and books.
Angels Crossing supports local women's issues, as well as those
of the larger community, with a schedule of workshops that will
help ease stressful times. This summer's workshops are geared
toward helping parents learn to "enjoy" raising their
children and will be lead by Denise Roy, author of the best
seller, "My Monastery is a Mini-Van." They will also
be teaching a class called Manners and More - for Children that
will cover personal grooming, public behavior, kindness and
respect for others.
Julie and Robin recognize the importance of establishing harmony
in your surroundings and making your home a sacred space. Classes
are offered on the art of Feng Shui. "Many people have
come into our store and said, 'We wish our home looked like
this,' so we now offer to come and rearrange what you already
have using Feng Shui principles to give your home a fresh new
feeling." Their shop has received national T.V. coverage,
with their Garden
Tea Room being featured on Evening Magazine as a place that
brings calm to a busy life.
"We continue to serve the hospital as Directors Emeritus,
and our current project is raising funds for a pediatric ward.
We also appreciate hearing from our customers that we make a
difference in their lives."
